A difference of 70 thousand euros separates Catania from Domenico Toscano, the most successful coach in Serie C (five promotions achieved in his career). With Grella and the new manager Faggiano there is an agreement on everything: 130 thousand euros per season for three years, the technical staff, which will include the trusted deputy Michele Napoli, the technical collaborator Leo Vanzetto (already on staff with the rossazzurri), the goalkeeping coach Fulvio Flavoni and the team manager Marrazzo. But the agreement on the termination of the annual contract between Toscano and Cesena remains to be defined, who with the promotion to Serie B at the helm of the Romagna team had guaranteed themselves a salary of 200 thousand euros. The contacts between the Calabrian coach and the Juventus management have been going on for days: Toscano does not want to give up the 70 thousand euro difference on the salary that he would receive in Catania, Cesena does not intend to give him severance pay, nor does the Rossazzurri club want to take on the responsibility, not even partially, of this burden. «We are patient but our patience is not infinite – says Vincenzo Grella to Futura Production – The coach’s will is very clear, as is Catania’s. Whoever has to move, move. Hopefully we have plan B and C because Catania cannot find itself without alternatives.” The feeling is that the Tuscan knot could unravel at any moment, with consequent official status and presentation to the press. If this were the case, Catania would entrust the bench to the best coach in Serie C. For Toscano, born in ’71, originally from Cardeto, in the Reggio area, his CV speaks for itself: he is the only coach in the history of Italian football to have won five championships of Serie C, leading Reggina, Cosenza, Novara, Ternana and Cesena. A wealth of victories that earned him the nickname “Cannibal”.

He is a determined person, who knows what he wants, with a strong character but who manages to convey a lot to the group in terms of humanity. Clear and mandatory rules at work; never letting their guard down under his guidance, Toscano manages to create an important alchemy, making everyone feel involved, and in a team built to excel all this makes the difference. Supporter of the 3-4-1-2, the Calabrian coach plays on the flexibility of the backs to give breadth to the attacking phase. This was also the case in Cesena, where Adamo on the right and Donnarumma on the left made a significant contribution, scoring 4 and 5 goals respectively, and providing 20 assists overall. Catania are thinking of signing both, and they may not be the only players to follow Toscano from Romagna to Sicily.

Daniele Faggiano is simultaneously working on other incoming operations: with Cerignola the deal is for the Argentine midfielder Capomaggio, while Catania has been active on the striker Artistico (formerly Virtus Francavilla) for some time, and expects to define the operation in the next few days.
