The right tribute to the career as a sports manager of a man who gave his all to the LND world

The autobiography “Me and football, over half a century of passion and commitment for amateur sport”, the work of Nino CosentinoHonorary Director of the National Amateur League and Honorary President of the Calabria Regional Committee, bodies of which he was the top executive in his brilliant career, always at the service of the healthy values of sport conveyed in every way and in every circumstance.
With great pride Cosentino, for all the “Prof.”, recalled with emotion the national election of 2015, one year after the inauguration of the “Federal Technical Center” of Catanzaro, a “Citadel of Sport” that he thought of, wanted and which he saw born: “I was voted by all twenty-two regional committees, the first Calabrian to achieve this result”, he reiterated with the irony that has never been lacking in him, as can also be highlighted by reading the text from he drafted. But his legacy was also important in tracing the guidelines in the development of beach soccer and women’s football, two sectors in which he worked hard and which gave him so much satisfaction around the world, then a passage on the structure that he hosted the evening, inside the Conference Room of the Regional Committee: “The small Coverciano, as we like to define it, is certainly a milestone in our work, built on land granted by the Municipality and with a 2.5 million euros arrived thanks to the commitment of the then president of the LND Carlo Tavecchio, a great friend and colleague with whom I shared important steps on the path in this world and who now watches us from above”.
Many personalities and authorities present, who wanted to pay homage to a great sports manager and his work: the author of the book, Prof. Walter Dodaro, the president of the Order of Journalists of Calabria Giuseppe Soluri, moderator of the event, the mayor of Catanzaro Nicola Fiorita and the Sports Councilor Nunzio Belcaro, but also the former mayor Sergio Abramo and the president of US Catanzaro, Eng. Floriano Noto, as well as the landlord and successor of Cosentino himself, the president of the LND Calabria Saverio Mirarchi, inextricably linked to his predecessor also due to the family affection that binds them and, finally, in streaming connection, the president of the National League Amateurs and former number one of the Italian Football Federation, Giancarlo Abete. A memorable evening, the right recognition for a man who gave so much to Calabrian and national amateur sport and the many anecdotes present in the pages of the autobiography are certainly the most shining testimony of this.
