Rimini Fair. TTG 2024, boating arrives; one of the novelties of the 61st edition with a dedicated exhibition focus.

TTG Travel Experience will take place simultaneously with InOut where the ADI InOut Hospitality Design Award will be awarded, to reward the best product or service ideas for the world of hospitality

Hotels in Italy generated over 30 billion in turnover in 2023, placing first in Europe ahead of the United Kingdom (27 billion) and France with 26 billion

Luxury tourism is growing rapidly, and the sector is mainly driven by the new generations, willing to pay up to 50% more for a quality, personalized proposal and the discovery of new destinations. This is the trend at the center of the analyzes of the TTG Travel Experience Monitor, a reference event for the promotion of global tourism by the Italian Exhibition Group which will be at the Rimini Fair from 9 to 11 October.

NEW GENERATIONS AND NAUTICAL TOURISM: LUXURY TRENDS

The luxury sector in Italy represents 25% of the overall tourism industry, albeit compared to 2% of total presences (source: Altagamma). But from what has emerged, two categories are appearing on the market among the new generations: the ‘luxury seekers’, i.e. those who are willing to spend on experiences to show off their well-being, and the ‘wellness worshipers’, i.e. those who put above all experiences in the midst of nature. Both are linked by particular attention to the environment, and in the face of quality proposals they are willing to spend even 50% more.

Furthermore, nautical tourism is also growing rapidly in the luxury market, a sector that will be one of the novelties of the 61st edition of TTG, with a dedicated exhibition focus. In Italy there are over 7,500 kilometers of coastline and in 2023 bookings rose by 130% compared to 2022, while the average spending of Italians in the sector recorded a +53%, making pleasure boating an indispensable resource for the economy national tourism. The categories involved range from nautical charter to cruises, from tourist ports to coastal parks and reserves, also involving skippers, courses for pleasure boats, diving, boat excursions and trade associations.

INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL IN GREAT RECOVERY

The trend towards the search for luxury was also confirmed by the most recent study by McKinsey & Company: in 2024 international travel will reach a record 9 billion overnight stays, certifying full recovery after -75% in 2020. And looking to the future , by 2028 an expenditure of 391 billion dollars is expected (compared to the current 239) for luxury tourism, of which 107 coming from the new generations with excellent economic availability, i.e. with an income ranging from 100 thousand euros to a million dollars. An important impact also for Italy, given that in a Deloitte research presented at TTG Day it emerged that hotels on the peninsula generated over 30 billion in turnover in 2023, placing them in first place in Europe ahead of the United Kingdom (27) and France with 26 billion. Luxury tourism also influences hotel investments in Italy: out of 1.5 billion spent in 2023, half is aimed precisely at the luxury segment, in a trend destined to grow in the country which has more accommodation facilities in Europe with 31,806 hotels compared to 22,185 from Germany and 18,067 from France. More specifically, from 2019 to today the luxury sector has seen an increase of 400 structures for over 11 thousand rooms.

THE LUXURY EVENT BY TTG

«The day before the fair, i.e. 8 October – states Gloria Armiri, Group Exhibition Manager Tourism & Hospitality Division of IEG – the second edition of Luxury Event by TTG will be organized at the Grand Hotel in Rimini, an event entirely dedicated to business where Italian and international buyers will be able to meet in the name of exclusive but sober, elegant but hidden, unique but balanced luxury.”

The 61st edition of TTG will take place at the same time as InOut, the event which with its 4 sectors (supplies and furnishings, outdoor, materials and coverings, seaside) completes the offer for the hotel industry; InOut will be awarded the ADI InOut Hospitality Design Award, to reward the best product or service ideas for the world of hospitality. «The new high-end tourist is looking for an indelible memory, a memorable story – concludes Armiri -. Extraordinary and unique experiences that Italian luxury players are ready to create.”
