the dance legend on a summer night

He recently turned 55 and continues to ignite audiences all over the world. Bob Sinclar, one of the most popular DJ producers – if not the most famous ever – arrives in Agrigento for the first time. He will perform on August 22nd at the “Mia Garden”, near the Cannatello roundabout, between San Leone and Villaggio Moses. An event that transcends the simple concept of “disco” transforming the console into a real concert stage. Obviously thanks to the artist on whom the spotlight will shine. Bob Sinclar’s career is a concentration of hits and hits that have followed one another for 20 years now and that cross the entire globe making people of all ages and musical cultures dance. A superstar with hundreds of platinum and gold records, Sinclar shows absolutely no signs of aging and, on the contrary, continues to offer new hits by performing in every corner of the world. Last May 10th, his birthday, the latest single entitled “Digane” was released, born from the collaboration with the African artist Sofiya Nzau, voice of another hit of this period: “Mwaki”, number 1 on Spotify in all countries. For Sinclar it is not the first collaboration with African artists. In the past he also founded the “Africanism” project which dance lovers remember for the now legendary song “Edony”.

“Today Africa – explains Sinclar himself – is emerging as a fertile ground for creativity and many artists who sing in their native language are enjoying success everywhere. It is in this context that I had the privilege of collaborating with Sofiya Nzau. Our song is a meeting between Kenya and France, an enchanting blend of exotic sounds and irresistible rhythms that will transport you to the dance floor.”

The Bob Sinclar Story

French, he started as an underground DJ creating rather sophisticated and niche productions. Then a progressive “commercial” evolution which led him to become known to the general public. The pseudonym Bob Sinclar is derived from the character of Bob Saint-Clair, played by Jean-Paul Belmondo in the film “How to Destroy the Reputation of the Greatest Secret Agent in the World” by Philippe de Broca (1973).

His first hit was “Gym tonic” which he created in collaboration with Thomas Bangalter of Daft Punk. Jane Fonda’s voice was sampled on the record by taking the sound from a fitness audio cassette. Jane Fonda herself later denied her authorization to use that sound sample. At that point the two producers, unable to come out with an original version of “Gym tonic”, co-produced a cover. Then came global fame in 2005 with the hit “Love Generation”. The following year came “World, hold on” which also entered the soundtracks of the cinepanettoni “Natale a Miami” and “Natale a New York”. The same “Love Generation” was also one of the official songs of the 2006 World Cup. Not much after Sinclar, at the World music award, he was crowned best DJ in the world.

And again “La La Song” from 2009, created in collaboration with Master Gee and Wonder Mike of Sugarhill Gang. Another global success came in 2011 with the remix of “Far l’amore” by Raffaella Carrà: a song written, among others, by Gianni Boncompagni. Bob Sinclar played himself in the cinepanettone “Christmas Holidays in Cortina” with Christian De Sica and Sabrina Ferilli. He created the soundtrack for the film. He also acted as a model for Yamamay. In 2024 he remixed Annalisa’s song “Sincerely” competing in Sanremo.
