The Municipal Environment Office announces that on Thursday 27 June the door-to-door collection of undifferentiated waste will be carried out on an extraordinary basis. In this way, last Monday’s missed collection caused by the sudden closure of the Lentini landfill, the only mechanical and biological treatment plant (Tmb) will be recovered. for waste management for around 200 municipalities in Sicily including Mazara del Vallo.
This sudden closure for authorization reasons and decisions of the Judicial Authority has caused the halt to the separate collection of residual dry waste in almost all of Sicily. Now the situation is unblocked thanks to the ordinance n.1/Rif of the President of the Region Schifani – Extraordinary Commissioner for the waste emergency – with which he temporarily authorizes Sicula Trasporti to the temporary storage of treated waste in some authorized areas of the same landfill site. A decision even if stopgap that in any case at the moment avoids a waste emergency.
Therefore, users of Mazara del Vallo from Wednesday evening until Thursday morning will be able to display the gray tubs and the bags of undifferentiated residual dry waste. The diaper collection will also be carried out regularly on Thursday. From next week the dry waste collection will return as scheduled on Monday.
