TRENT. Three years after the first edition, “Trento Proton Beam Line Facility”, an event organized to present and discuss the research activities carried out in the proton therapy center of Trento – a specialist structure of the provincial health authority.
The sophisticated and innovative therapy – an oncological radiation treatment, more precise than traditional X-ray therapy in targeting tumor cells – will be central to the two-day workshop, 17 and 18 June, in the Kessler Room of the Department of Sociology of the University of Trento and is organized by TIFPA, Trentino Institute for Fundamental Physiscs and Applications.
At the proton therapy center in Trento, the activities were combined with scientific research of national and international importance, both in the clinical, preclinical and radiobiological fields.
The preclinical research activity is carried out in a dedicated experimental room, equipped with two fixed lines for the release of the proton beam, which is also used for research and development projects in the field of basic physics and materials and applications aerospace.
A particular focus will be dedicated to recent scientific developments in the field of detectors for medical, space and other scientific applications, including in the field of radiobiology.
