Restarting the city through a “courageous” PGT approved in record time, amid far too many controversies from the minority, to give “security” of continuity to the operators involved and at the same time to have the possibility of seeing the «Legnano of the future» materialize; capable of renewing itself and getting rid of the preposition ex which indicates all those areas to be redeveloped such as the former manufacturing”. So the secretary of PD Legnano club Giacomo Pigni vwith the group leader Sara Borgio they wanted to comment on the end of a long and complex journey to «equip Legnano with an urban planning tool capable of unlocking essential projects for the transformation and development of the city».
The new PGT, whose process ended on Wednesday 12 June and will come into force towards autumn, it is for Borgio and Pigni an example of good administration. This approach will prevent operators from being left in uncertainty while awaiting the election of a new council. «Ours was an obstacle course that lasted months – explains Pigni and Borgio – which saw us committed to providing Legnano with a new urban planning tool which, we hope, will allow us to unlock essential issues for the transformation and development of Legnano. We didn’t stop the city but we made courageous choices. The PGT that we deliver in advance of the end of the mandate is an example of good administration and is a gift to the city because it also gives the next administration the opportunity to renew it at a peak moment of the mandate and not at the end. This is positive for operators who will no longer find themselves in uncertainty waiting for the election of a new council to have to dialogue. This is a PGT that truly designs the Legnano of the future, regenerating it and offering new services in all neighborhoods. This is a document that reconciles the interests of the private with those of the public and at the same time looks at a livable Legnano, as well as an attractive center».
During the meeting organized by the PD club, it was highlighted the often tense and absent confrontation between minority and majority. An increasingly tense situation that is hindering the mechanisms of the City Council, an instrument of the community. «In these months, characterized by a debate that has gone far beyond the normal and necessary political dialectic that must accompany the definition and approval of such an important instrument for the future of the City, we have been witnesses, as councilors of the Democratic Party of behaviors that are wrong for us. Why was there the absence, on almost all evenings, of minority groups in the discussion of the counterarguments and the document as a whole? Sterile controversy was preferred as if all technical operators, therefore professionals without political colour, did not exist. We were subjected to attacks that had never been seen before in the council chamber. We repeat, ours is not in a hurry, but speed to give Legnano a priority role and no longer that of a provincial city. The hope is that we can return to a respectful discussion in the council chamber, to continue to engage in active politics for the good of citizens».
