The event was coordinated by Angelo Turitto, Provincial Delegate of FCI Taranto.

During the event, the new official jersey of the Apulian representative of the Italian Cycling Federation was presented, which from this year also contains the Anci Puglia logo. An example of the official uniform was delivered to Vice President Di Cillo, accompanied for the occasion by Deputy Secretary Domenico Sgobba.

The FCI Bike Hospitality project aims to establish collaboration with municipalities that promote the use of bicycles for daily mobility, for tourism promotion and for introducing young people to activity. It therefore becomes essential to network all the subjects involved in the sector of “bicycle tourism” and “sustainable mobility” who adapt to the parameters for promoting the use of bicycles. The FCI makes its organizational structure, widespread throughout the national territory, available to municipal sustainable mobility projects.

The subjects involved, public administrations, accommodation facilities, food and wine producers, renters, cycle tour guides, artistic, historical and cultural attractions, are qualified by the FCI as “BIKE HOSPITALITY” with the logo of the Federation itself and included in all promotional activities. In Puglia, where the cycle tourism offer is increasingly spreading and where, thanks to the scenic beauty and other regional tourist resources, the attention of bike lovers from other Italian regions and from abroad is growing.

ANCI Puglia focuses strongly on the potential of mobility on two wheels through the “Pedaling to travel” network of municipalities. In synergy with the Puglia Region, Pugliapromozione and Federciclismo, the association is directly involved in the development of the bike economy and cycle tourism, with the aim of improving the attractiveness of the territories, promoting and enhancing them through gentle and sustainable mobility. Welcoming the requests coming from the mayors and the territories, ANCI Puglia has established a Scientific Technical Committee within its structure, which will work to improve sustainable mobility in the municipalities, increase the tourist accommodation of the territories and attract sporting events with a strong media impact.

“Puglia can benefit enormously from the bike economy and cycle tourism, fast-growing sectors that give a strong boost to sustainable economic development, create new jobs and enhance local products” he declared the Vice President of Anci Puglia, Onofrio Di Cillo. “By investing in cycling infrastructure and support services, it is possible to reduce CO2 emissions and promote healthier lifestyles. Cycle tourism enhances natural and cultural heritage, strengthening local identity and attracting visitors. The joint action with the Puglia Region, Pugliapromozione, Federciclismo and other stakeholders is also fundamental to intercept the support of European, national and private funds, in order to build an increasingly prosperous and sustainable Puglia.”
