The super champion pizza chef from Sassari

Matteo Sanna, pizza chef from Sassariowner of Era della Pizza in Li Punti, won the title of absolute champion in the Sardinian stage of the World Pizza Championship. There Mediterranean cup “Quality Pizza”now in its eighteenth edition, was held on June 12th in Cabras. To challenge each other, 35 pizza chefs from all over Sardiniain six different categories: classic pizza, pizza on the shovel, Neapolitan pizza, contemporary innovative pizza, gluten-free pizza andpisarda”. The latter, introduced in this edition, is called this because it is mixed with flours from the local supply chain and seasoned with products from local agri-food companies.

In the classic pizza category, it won Matteo Lai and in that of pizza on the shovel, Marcello Melis. In the Neapolitan pizza category, he won Antonio Pellecchiawhile in that of contemporary innovative pizza Paolo Paolillo. Ivano Giuffrida has established itself in the gluten-free pizza category and Rosy Circus in that of the pisarda. A jury made up of experts, led by the starred chef Mother Flavia, tasted, examined and evaluated the proposed pizzas. The super champion Matteo Sanna and all the other winners thus gained the pass for the Finals of the Pizza World Cupwhich will be held in Pomezia (RM) on 1, 2 and 3 October 2024.
