The school year of the ITET “G. Fashion System” ends on a high note, or rather, on display. Garibaldi” of Marsala which has carried out 4 sectoral projects and which had, as a final moment and of giving back to the territory, the “Slow Fashion” fashion show held on 7 June, in the splendid setting of the Painting Exhibition Authority of the Municipality of Marsala, former Convent of Carmine.

The first two projects, curated by Professor Mirella Gioia, from the garment to the design, guided the students towards research, first, and then a study, of women’s clothing from the 1950s to today.

The third, curated by the Marsala designer and model maker Gianna Sicurella, brand Giannaesse, and by Professor Fanny Marino, “From drawing to garment”, involved them in a process of “upcycling”, that is to say, recovery of garments and materials that otherwise would have had to be eliminated, destructuring/

dismantling them and creating new, totally different clothes.

A new trend from the main and most virtuous “stables” of world fashion that wink at the environment and sustainability in general, “upcycling” translates into creative reuse of the “old” but also into social commitment. All the items were therefore deconstructed and brought to “new life”; the students designed a collection inspired by the legendary 60s and 70s, revolutionary years that gave “voice” to young people, creating a collection, from the design to the garment to wear. Finally, the fourth project, curated by professors Mavie Maggio and Nicoletta Reina, also focused on the creation of accessories and jewelery with waste, recycled or alternative objects and materials, such as corn pasta, for example, , above all, of the leaders of the previous three projects but not only. The common denominator of all four paths is the need, however, to reflect and make people reflect on the concepts of circular economy and sustainable fashion.

The girls then wore the garments they had made, giving life to an exciting fashion show accompanied by a splendid play list and creating a great moment of restitution of a two-year-long project, the years of life of a totally new direction: the ” Fashion system”.

The great success of the fashion show also attracted the attention of a well-known Marsala boutique, Riviera, based in Via Roma n. 34, which, in recent days, hosts in one of its shop windows, some garments and accessories made by the students.

“The Sistema Moda course of study prepares students to become future professionals in the textile, clothing and footwear sector, focusing on a solid cultural base, laboratory teaching and the development of skills that allow immediate entry into the world of work.”

The Director Loana Giacalone declares “The results obtained by our students demonstrate that this is another successful bet for ITET Garibaldi!
