found by policemen wandering at Marco Polo airport

VENICE – He wandered near the access gates to the airport security checks, following departing passengers in an evident state of confusion, which is why he attracted the attention of the Venice border police patrol, employed in the control activity of the departure hall of Marco Polo airport, remarkably crowded, particularly on weekends. The man, without documents and with walking difficulties, did not understand Italian, so the agents accompanied him to their offices to make him feel at ease and try to obtain some more information, useful for identification.

Through a photographic comparison, carried out through police databases and the acquisition of fingerprints, it was possible to trace the exact identity of the man, a Romanian citizen, who had been reported as missing person from the Prefecture of Rovigo. The disappearance report had been presented by the family of the man, resident in the Rodigino area, with the news of the last sighting of him at the Portogruaro railway station on 10 June, then all traces of him were lost and for this reason he was activated the provincial search plan for missing persons, also involving the Prefecture of Venice. Once the police had completed the identification and were certain of his identity, they contacted the man’s family who, a few hours later, relieved by the happy news, arrived at the airport to take him home.
