26 suspects and 9 arrests, searches also in Avellino

There are nine flagrant arrests made by the state police during a vast operation called “Tabu'”, throughout the national territory to combat online child pornography, coordinated by the Catania district attorney’s office. The investigation, conducted by the Operational Center for Cyber ​​Security of the Postal Police of Catania, made it possible to investigate 26 people throughout Italy for possession and dissemination of child pornography material, subjected to personal and computer searches.

The investigations, coordinated by the National Center for the fight against Online child pornography (Cncpo) of the Postal Police Service, began with a complex IT analysis activity on some electronic devices seized from a suspect, arrested months ago for the same conduct, on which – within a messaging platform – were found groups dedicated to the exchange of gruesome images and videos, with abuse even of very young children. Meticulous and complex investigations, even of an extremely technical nature, led to the identification of the subjects active in the groups, against whom the prosecutor’s office issued personal and computer search orders.

The searches were carried out with the collaboration of the various Operational Centers for Cyber ​​Security of the Postal Police, in Catania, Rome, Milan, Brescia, Varese, Bergamo, Catanzaro, Bari, Foggia, Turin, CuneoGenova, Imperia, Avellino, Livorno, Prato , Ravenna, Ascoli piceno. Those arrested reside in the provinces of Catania, Rome, Florence, Bergamo, Ravenna, Varese, Imperia and 2 in Milan. One of them, in addition to thousands of child pornography files, had in his cloud the digital format of the book “Guia del pedofilo” (pedophile’s guide). The material seized during the searches is being examined by the investigating magistrates and the Postal Police for further investigative investigations also useful for the identification of the young victims.
