Yesterday morning, the Terracina Traffic Police officers carried out a check on a heavy vehicle used for the transport of goods along the SS 148 Pontina, in the Sabaudia area. During the check, it was discovered that the vehicle’s refrigeration system was not working properly, compromising the preservation of the transported food.
Intervention of the ASL of Latina and seizure of food
The agents requested the immediate intervention of the Latina ASL staff. After a careful check, it was declared that the 1300 kg of mozzarella present in the vehicle were no longer fit for consumption. Consequently, the goods were seized and destroyed by a company specialized in the sector.
Penalties and Costs for the Driver
The driver of the vehicle was fined over 1000 euros due to the irregularities found. Furthermore, he was charged for the costs of disposing of the goods, which amounted to over 1600 euros.
Other Checks Carried Out During the Day
On the same day, another vehicle intended for the transport of food was suspended from circulation because it did not comply with current ATP (Accord Transport Perissable) regulations.
