Farewell to the historic newsagent Ginetto Lodini. Funeral on Monday

Ginetto passionately ran the newsagent-stationery shop in via Ciro Menotti in Legnano. He was 90 years old. Funeral Monday 17 June, at 10 am, at the Santi Martiri

Legnano – The historic newsagent and stationer passed away in Legnano LouisGinetto” Lodini, the “dean” of newsstands in Legnano. Active until recently in “his” newsagent-stationery shop in via Ciro Menotti in Legnano, which he had cared for with passion for years, now supported by his son Guido. Ginetto was 90 years old and hospitalized. The funeral will be celebrated on Monday 17 June, at 10 am, in the Church of Santi Martiri in Legnano.

From the first cart for selling newspapers in Piazza del Popolo, which later became a kiosk, then the transfer in the 1960s to via Ciro Menotti, to the current newsstand. For Ginetto a whole life among the newspapers in the Oltrestazione neighborhood in Legnano.

Our latest interview with Ginetto it dates back to exactly one year ago, when, curious about how the world of newsstands was turning, we wanted to know about it from the voice of the rights involved. Here is an excerpt signed by our journalist Luigi Marinoni: “Both tell us how supermarkets have also affected the publishing sector, with the sale – if not always of newspapers – at least of the most popular magazines. Even if the newsstand predominates, alongside the printed paper there is a well-stocked stationery shop (Ginetto tells us it is practically the last shop of its kind left beyond the station) and there are many services offered to its loyal customers: photocopies, fax, prints colours, bindings, scans and email reception”. Condolences for the passing of “Ginetto” also come from the local administration: “For those who, like me, were born in the Oltrettazione – Writes the mayor Lorenzo Radice – Il Ginetto” was an iconic person in the neighborhooda trader capable, with his humanity, of making his shop a true point of reference in the area, and not just for purchases of newspapers and magazines. With him a piece of our city’s history truly goes away; a story which, in his case, is made up of the most authentic everyday life, one that smacks of ritual, like the purchase of the newspaper. Deepest condolences to his family“.
