Gianluca and Oscar Davide Pesce, Michela Caldarola and Nicolas Nicolamarino will be judged according to the immediate rite while Giuseppe Loconte and the lawyer Tiziana Favullo according to the abbreviated one: this is what the Gup of the Court of Bari, Giuseppe Ronzino, ordered yesterday morning in the first hearing of trial involving members of the Pesce clan of Andria. Last year they were arrested for extortion, attempted extortion and usury – aggravated by the mafia method -, as well as illegal possession and carrying of a pistol in public places.

During the hearing, the formation of civil parties was also admitted. Specifically, through the lawyer Enrico Giannattasio, the Ministry of the Interior is constituted for disturbing public order. The Municipality of Andria, represented by its lawyer, Giuseppe De Candia, and the mayor, Giovanna Bruno (both present in the courtroom), believes that the contested crimes have harmed the interests of the organisation.

The Bar Association of Trani, however, through its vice-president Salvatore Monti, takes action only against Favullo because “if the conduct is confirmed, it will have damaged the prestige and honor of the legal profession”. Finally, Savina and Vincenzo Tesoro and Francesco Tursi, assisted by Maurizio Altomare, appear “for having suffered financial damage (having paid usurious interest and sold off a property after threats) and otherwise”.

Currently Gianluca Pesce, defended by the lawyer Michele Pierno, is imprisoned in the Lanciano prison; Oscar Davide Pesce, assisted by Nicola Lambo and Pierno, in Naples Secondigliano; Michela Caldarola, followed by Michele Inchingolo and Pierpaolo Matera, in Santa Maria Capua Vetere; Nicolas Nicolamarino, defended by Vincenzo Desiderio, in Taranto; Giuseppe Loconte, assisted by Giuseppe Cannone, in Melfi; while the lawyer Tiziana Favullo, followed by Nicola Lerario, is under house arrest. The latter said she was available to conduct an interrogation or examination, deferring to the questions of the judge or the public prosecutor Daniela Chimienti.
