CREMONA – «The issue of mobility is fundamental for the future of the city of Cremona». The mayoral candidate of Novità per Cremona, Fratelli d’Italia, Forza Italia, Lega and Pensioners Party, Alessandro Portesani, explains that «the centre-right believes it is essential to review access to the city, to decongest connection routes that are currently saturated and to make access to some city streets easier. Today, citizens who travel by car are forced to take absurd routes for very limited travel as the crow flies.”

«While confirming the choice of the ZTL, the centre-right believes it is essential to carry out a check with the economic categories on the opening hours of the gates. Then there is the fundamental chapter of the parking plan. The issue is very complex, as the city of Cremona is involved in a concession with Saba, which enormously reduces the administration’s room for manoeuvre. It is necessary to address the issue immediately. We will propose to enhance the car parks at the gates of the city and connect them to the city center with electric public transport at discounted rates.”

«The always very delicate chapter of cycle paths can be linked to this. They must be safer and more effective for accessing the historic city center. The journey must facilitate people with reduced mobility or strollers. Then there is a chapter dedicated to the citizens who live in the northern part of the city. Their condition of separation from the city’s continuity is accentuated by the presence of two road infrastructures: via Dante, closer to the center and via Nazario Sauro, more external. Via Dante must become more livable and more permeable to pedestrian and cycle mobility, as well as being redeveloped in terms of urban quality. While via Nazario Sauro needs infrastructural interventions to resolve road issues.”

«The current ZTL and the lack of parking hinder the use of the city center and increase emissions from vehicles forced to follow tortuous and senseless routes. Then there is the tangential chapter that we would like Anas to handle. Then there are two other issues that do not concern mobility within the capital but which are nevertheless fundamental: the Cremona-Mantua motorway and the doubling of the Paullese. For the motorway, let’s not enter into the debate with a fan approach. If a private individual were to arrive to unblock the situation and make the infrastructure feasible, this opportunity could not be passed up. The doubling of the Paullese deserves strong attention from our future administration. The benefits would be absolutely important and fundamental for our entire territory.”
