CATANZARO Around one million euros to complete the redevelopment of Palazzo Stella, headquarters in Catanzaro of the “PI Tchaikovsky” State Conservatory of Music of Nocera Terinese. This was announced in a press conference by the president of the Province of Catanzaro, Amedeo Mormile, and the director of the “Tchaikovsky” Conservatory, Valentina Currenti, who illustrated the terms of the intervention financed with the budget law by the Senate and included in the ranking of the programs presented by the Afam institutions at the Ministry of University and Research. As regards the “Tchaikovsky” Conservatory, the financing, amounting to 996,967 euros to be precise, is aimed at completing the planned expansion, improvement, safety and energy efficiency interventions in the Palazzo Stella headquarters in Catanzaro, capable of offering spaces for teaching that are increasingly sustainable and comfortable.

The interventions

Thus Currenti: «I think we are the first in Italy to have four PhD scholarships, and we have to carry them out entirely at the Catanzaro headquarters. Above all, the expansion is fundamental for us because it will allow us to provide ever greater opportunities for students and to have a structure that welcomes the best possible number of students. The wing of Palazzo Stella that we will have to renovate will also give us the opportunity for larger spaces: this year we had 200 admissions, we have also created many concert season activities, but we do not deny that we can have spaces where we can hold conferences and larger classrooms that can accommodate the number of students we have will be of priority importance to us.” In turn, Mormile observed: «This financing is the summary of a path that sees us working side by side with the Conservatory in a profitable collaboration that has led to the nationalization of the Conservatory and the creation of this complex. We will also verify the possibility of intercepting further funding lines to complement the ministerial ones.” Maestro Filippo Arlia, director of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Calabria, also participated in the press conference, while the director of the Province Eugenio Costanzo illustrated the technical terms of the interventions planned at Palazzo Stella, with the executive project which will now be subjected to scrutiny by the Superintendency .
