SASSARI – With great enthusiasm and a passionate audience, the 29th edition of the prestigious “Città di Sassari” International Olympic Wrestling Tournament began, organized by the Polisportiva Athlon. The event kicked off with a series of exciting challenges in the Under 20 category, which immediately set the Pala Santoru mats ablaze, offering a show of the highest technical and competitive level. The young promises of Olympic wrestling battled it out in a competition that promises to be unforgettable, marking the beginning of three days full of emotions and sport at the highest levels.

The Italian delegation shone, racking up victories and demonstrating extraordinary form. Among the most notable performances, that of Raul Caso stands out in the 74 kg category. Caso dominated the scene, clearly imposing himself on the strong Canadian opponent Nick Hooper, demonstrating technique and determination in every phase of the fight.

Also in the 61 kg category, Italy celebrated an important victory thanks to Pasquale Liuzzi, who managed to overcome Salvatore Cadoni in an exciting and hard-fought match. Liuzzi showed great preparation and a winning strategy that allowed him to deservedly prevail.

In the 81 kg, Gabriele Niccolini faced and won against Antonino Milone, in a match that showcased the excellence of the Italian fighting school. Niccolini’s victory was particularly significant, as was Liuzzi’s, since both athletes, thanks to their excellent performances, obtained qualification for the next European Championships.

Tomorrow the spectacle of Olympic wrestling will continue with the highly anticipated Senior category competitions.
