TO one hundred years since the assassination of Giacomo Matteotti discussed in Ragusa, at the Feliciano Rossitto Study Center

Ragusa, 7 June 2024 — A century has passed since the last speech in which the deputy Giacomo Matteotti denounced the violence of fascism in the Chamber. In June 1924 the tragic death of the “Polesine deputy”, a politician and convinced anti-fascist.

The hundred years since these events will be celebrated with an initiative, which will be held on Tuesday 11 June, at 5.30 pm, in the Auditorium of the Feliciano Rossitto Study Center (in Via Ettore Majorana 5, in Ragusa), entitled “1924-2024 one hundred years after the assassination of Giacomo Matteotti. The relevance of anti-fascist commitment”.

Greetings: Giorgio Chessari (president of the F. Rossitto Study Center), Gianni Battaglia (president of the provincial ANPI of Ragusa), Peppe Scifo (secretary of the provincial CGIL of Ragusa), Giovanni Di Rosa (president of the School of political and cultural training ” Virgilio Failla” of Modica).

Speeches: Salvatore Bottari (professor of Modern History at the University of Messina), sen. Gianfranco Pagliarulo (national ANPI president).

The historical-cultural event in collaboration with Centro Studi F. Rossitto ANPI provincial headquarters of Ragusa, CGIL Ragusa, “Virgilio Failla” political and cultural training school (Modica) and Municipality of Ragusa.
