Prato, 14 June 2024 – Leave prison and goes to house arrest with the control of electronic bracelet lieutenant colonel Sergio Turinicompany commander Prato Carabinieriarrested on May 31 on charges of corruption for an act contrary to official duties and unauthorized access to the IT system. This was decided by the Review Court which replaced the measure of precautionary custody in prison with that of house arrest.
He will then remain under house arrest Roberto Moretti, owner of an investigative agency in Turin, in turn accused of corruption: the Review rejected his defender’s request. The Prato businessman also ended up under house arrest Riccardo Matteini Bresci, CEO of the Colle Group: for him the defender Pier Matteo Lucibello asked for the measure to be revoked. The application will be discussed on Tuesday 18 June at the Review.
According to the accusation, Turini made himself available to friendly Italian and Chinese entrepreneurs by illegally accessing the system law enforcement database to provide information. At least 99 accesses identified. In particular, he allegedly provided Matteini Bresci with information on investigations, covered by secrecy, relating to employees and news on industrialists. In exchange, the entrepreneur would have paid for a trip to the USA for the lieutenant colonel’s son and interceded with the undersecretary for foreign affairs Giorgio Silli to take action with the general command of the Carabinieri to guarantee Turini’s stay in Prato.
According to the accusation, the lieutenant colonel also procured clients for his friend Roberto Moretti by providing him with information obtained illegally from the database used by the police in exchange for bottles of wine worth over 1800 euros.
