The “Sant’Antonino Musica” association proposes, for the second year, the “Organ Notes in the City” review. The objective of the association is to enhance the organ building heritage of the city of Piacenza with particular attention to future generations. For this reason, in addition to opening and sponsoring events to a younger audience, the objective is to valorise talents who, despite their young age, already boast a very respectable CV.

The instruments involved this year will be the Bossi-Urbani organs kept in the churches of S. Antonio a Trebbia and in the oratory of S. Giorgio in Sopramuro in the city center and, like the previous edition, the Giani organ of the Basilica of S Antoninus.

The first appointment involves a young organist from Bergamo, Tomas Gavazzi, who on Saturday 15 June at 9pm in the Church of S. Antonio in Trebbia, offers us a program that ranges from baroque to Italian romanticism which will best highlight the voice of the esteemed Bossi-Urbani organ recently restored.

The second appointment will be Friday 21 June at 9pm in the Oratory of San Giorgio in Sopramuro. Luca Gorla, born in 2001, will sit at the organ, who despite his young age already boasts a very respectable curriculum. The programme, which this time looks more at Europe, will highlight the organist’s ability to adapt music from beyond the Alps onto a Risorgimento instrument, such as the case of the Bossi-Urbani from 1882 kept in the oratory, with very different characteristics and peculiarities from those of the instruments for which that music was designed.

The last appointment, which will be Sunday 30 June at 5pm in the Basilica of S. Antonino, will see the voice of the soprano Ilaria Geroldi in dialogue with that of the Giani organ played by Alberto Pozzaglio.

The entire event is organized in collaboration with the Municipality of Piacenza. The event is sponsored by the cultural heritage office of the Diocese of Piacenza-Bobbio. The realization was made possible thanks to the sponsorship of private individuals, such as Steriltom and Salumeria Montanari, and thanks to the availability of the parish priests of the parishes hosting the events and of the Confraternity of the Blessed Virgin of Suffrage with the Prior and the Chaplain.
