Torre del Greco – Work continues for the collection of wastewater | StabiaChannel.it

Important steps forward in the work carried out by Gori for the collection of wastewater from Torre del Greco to the Foce Sarno purifier. In fact, some important interventions have been completed in via Campanariello and via Pagliarone, with the completion of the microtunnelling section of the sewer collector which will transport the wastewater coming from the purifiers of San Giuseppe alle Paludi and Villa Inglese towards the district purifier of Foce Sarno. Yesterday morning, in the presence of the Mayor of Torre del Greco, Luigi Mennella, and the leaders of Gori and Ente Idrico Campano, the inspection to take stock of the important infrastructure created with innovative, safe and environmentally friendly No Dig techniques; followed by a visit to the construction site in via Fusco, in the municipality of Torre Annunziata, where the completion of the last section of microtunnelling is expected by the end of September, which will allow the connection to the existing district collector.

“Today’s intervention concerns the completion of the microtunnelling that from Cava Francese reaches via Pagliarone. A work of approximately 300 meters in length, excavated with the microtunnelling technique in a very complex geological context, with high hardness of the material of volcanic origin crossed. We completed this complex intervention, also drastically reducing the construction time of the recovery well, which is over 15 meters deep from ground level. After the recovery of the machine present in the well, we will proceed with the completion of the lifting station and all the civil works, with the installation of the electromechanical equipment, to lift the sewage towards Via Caravelli, where the works are already completed. By the end of 2024, the discharges from Villa Inglese will be eliminated and we will strengthen all the preliminary treatments of San Giuseppe alle Paludi, always with a view to improving the bathing ability of the coast of Torre del Greco and Torre Annunziata” declares the RUP of the intervention, Giovanni De Simone .

More generally, the project for Torre del Greco, financed by the Campania Region for 35 million euros and of which Gori is the implementing body, is aimed at the construction of the sewer collector which will allow the wastewater coming from the entire municipal territory to be collected and conveyed , for the final purification treatment, to the “Foce Sarno” plant located in Castellammare di Stabia, as required by regional planning.

“We are close to taking another decisive step towards the goal of providing Torre del Greco with an increasingly blue sea. This is done with a work of high engineering value: if everything goes as planned, in the autumn we will have the area, once served by the Viale Europa purifier, completely connected to Foce Sarno. In practice, by the end of 2024 approximately 40% of the wastewater produced by the citizens of Torre di Torre will be destined for the main plant. Therefore, by the end of 2025, all the wastewater collection works will be completed: this will contribute to further improving the quality of marine waters, which are already excellent in many places. Finally, I ask the citizens for a little patience in enduring any possible inconvenience” declares the Mayor of Torre del Greco, Luigi Mennella.
