At approximately 7.30 yesterday morning, following a request for urgent intervention received by the Police Headquarters Operations Center on the emergency number “112 NUE”, the crews of the “Flying Squad” of the State Police were sent to Via Fago as the woman who had made the request had reported that, while she was on her way to work, having reached the bus stop near the intersection with Via Sarentino, she had unfortunately witnessed an episode that had shocked.

Specifically, the woman had noticed that a man of African origin had approached two very young girls, who, when this individual approached them, had started screaming in terror, and then ran away in the direction of their “grandfather”. policeman” who was in the immediate vicinity. The subject, after having moved away from the two girls, probably annoyed by their screams, retraced his steps to follow them, regardless of the fact that the “watchful grandfather” had ordered him to leave otherwise he would have called the police.

The girls, panicked by the situation they were experiencing, having noticed the presence of the woman who then alerted the police, ran towards her with the clear intention of finding help, reporting that they had both been heavily and repeatedly groped. in the private parts, intentionally, by an unknown stranger.

At this point the criminal decided to move away in the direction of via Gries, not before the woman managed to take a photograph of the subject with her mobile phone, which was immediately distributed to all the patrols.
Once the two girls had been made safe, they had tried to reassure them and had entrusted them to their mother, who in the meantime had arrived on site, the “Volanti” agents began the immediate search for the person who had been responsible for these reprehensible acts of violence.

After about an hour of checks and searches, a State Police patrol managed to identify the subject in via Cesare Battisti, while he was trying to evade police control by fleeing in the direction of Corso Italia.
Reached and blocked, the subject was taken to the Largo Palatucci offices for the continuation of the investigations.
Here, once the girls’ story of what happened had been formalized in a complaint, in the presence of their mother, and the facts had been confirmed officially by the woman who rescued them, the State Police Agents decided to issue charges against the subject – this SU, a 31-year-old Nigerian citizen clandestinely present on the national territory and with criminal and/or police records, including specific ones, for crimes such as sexual violence, personal injury and threats, beatings and threats against a woman, resistance and contempt of PU, battery, damage and attempted robbery – a Crime Suspect arrested for the crime of aggravated sexual assault.

In addition to the seriousness of the crime, in fact, the danger of escape was considered highly probable, due to the fact that at the time of the check it was impossible to proceed with an exact identification of the arrested person, who, being a subject who lives by his wits, refused to provide a valid identity document, reported that he does not carry out any work activity, that he occasionally stays at a cold emergency center and that he has no fixed abode.

At the end of the Judicial Police proceedings, the arrested person was taken to the Trento prison at the disposal of the Bolzano Public Prosecutor’s Office. In consideration of the seriousness of the facts found, and in parallel with the procedural process, the Police Commissioner of the Province of Bolzano Paolo Sartori issued an EXPULSION DECREE from the National Territory towards SU, which will become operational as soon as he has paid his debt with Justice.

“What these two little sisters saw in the role of victims represents a particularly deplorable and shameful type of crime, as it affects one of the weakest sections of society, not able to defend themselves – Commissioner Sartori was keen to underline -. Thanks to the sensitivity and civic spirit of a witness it was possible to intervene promptly and effectively. The State Police has always been attentive to these criminal phenomena, in such a way as to be able to assist the victims and make every effort to bring those who commit them to justice.”
