TREVISO – «Give it back. This theft is a disaster”. It’s stopped director general of Local Health Authority 2, Francesco Benazzi, in condemning Tuesday night’s episode. The defibrillator along the road disappeared Will remain, more precisely the one located in the stretch between Villa Carisi and the buildings under renovation of the former mills. No idea yet who did it, nor whether it was the result of a prank or an action orchestrated by professionals. But, whatever the case, director Benazzi’s appeal didn’t take long to arrive: «Stealing a defibrillator is a real mess. I hope whoever took him brings him back.” «It costs between 800 and a thousand euros – he continues – if professionals stole it, I invite them to bring it back, since they can buy it themselves. If, however, it was kids, the appeal is the same: the defibrillator it is a salvation which serves the whole community. They too might need it one day.”
The damage
The Restera defibrillator was, among other things, the result of a private donation and inserted by the Local Health Authority in collaboration with the municipality: «Whoever had donated this defibrillator had done so with the aim of save lives. A lot of people running and walking pass along the Restera – explains Benazzi – and also several elderly people. The defibrillator is needed. I can only define it as a massacre to have taken him.” “If it’s a joke, or a prank, report it,” he reiterates.
The indignation of those who live along the Restera is also great: “Return it” is the same appeal that comes from the citizens, full of anger and disdain: “It is not clear how anyone can commit such an act, which is to the detriment of the whole community. What was the point of stealing it? This is what both citizens and the healthcare company are asking: «It is a device that benefits everyone – added Benazzi – Its usefulness is exclusively to be used in emergencies». It is therefore difficult to imagine another intended use, as well as the hypothetical sale. Now a sign has been put up in the vacant position: “Device not available due to theft”.
