A middle-aged man, angry with a world he considers hostile and gripped by terror over an alleged serious illness, which for days has sown concern in the Chiavazza district of Biella. He is responsible for a series of vandalism raids during which more than 100 cars parked on the street were damaged, their tires slashed and other damage inflicted.
The man, 49 years old, was arrested this morning by the Carabinieri of the Operational and Radiomobile Nucleus of the Biella Company, supported by the city’s Municipal Police officers. Around 1:00 this morning, the man, 49 years old, was walking around brandishing a knife and a cell phone with the function of a “torch” to illuminate the targets to hit.
The noise caused by the explosion of one of the affected tires attracted the attention of some citizens who called 112. Immediately the Carabinieri, who had been stationed in the area for days in civilian clothes together with the Local Police officers, identified him and stopped him after a escape attempt.
The man was arrested for aggravated damage and, by order of the Public Prosecutor on duty at the Biella Public Prosecutor’s Office, placed under house arrest.
