He was walking near the so-called Porcinai gardens when he was attacked. Moments of fear on Wednesday morning near the area where a construction site for the redevelopment of the green area was opened in recent days.
The victim’s wife recounts the episode: a middle-aged, sporty man with no physical problems, who, she explains, “for no reason” was attacked by a passer-by.
“It was around 10am – says the reader – when my husband felt a blow coming to his shoulder. A young man had head-butted him”. The man from Arezzo, taken by surprise, was attacked by a boy who seemed obviously upset and fell to the ground. The young man instead fled.
“When my husband got up – explains his wife – he looked around: there was no one who could help him, not even the security guards. Fortunately he did not suffer any trauma in the fall and at the moment he has not filed a complaint. With this testimony, however, we would like bring attention to the problem, because in addition to beautifying the area and carrying out occasional checks, it is necessary to do something concrete”.
The episode occurred right near the fenced area where the redevelopment works will soon begin: a project by the Municipality, in collaboration with the Superintendence, which provides for adherence to the original design but also proposes elements of modernization. Also due to the urgent need for greater security, new lighting will be installed and video surveillance implemented.
In the meantime, since the first days of May, security guards have been hired who are on site from Sunday to Thursday from 2pm to 2am, Friday and Saturday until 4am.
There have been many episodes of petty crime and violence that have occurred in this area in recent months. The latest in the series was the attack on police officers who were in the area for a check. The episode ended with the damage to a police car and the injury of a policeman.
