A few days after the rescue of two Northern European boys in the waters in front of the Buoniamici beach, Lido di Camaiore is once again the scene of an out-of-season intervention. On Wednesday evening, shortly after sunset, two 15-year-old German girls jumped into the sea at the pier. Once in the water, the two tourists got into difficulty, alarming those present who immediately started the rescue machine.

By now, with the factories closed, the beaches were deserted. And so the Port Authority had to intervene, sending a vehicle to the rescue of the two girls. Coast Guard personnel managed to rescue them before it was too late, and at the same time the 118 operations center was alerted and sent the medical vehicle and two ambulances. Both 15-year-old German girls were transported to the pediatric emergency room in Versilia: one in code yellow, and one even in code red, since she had difficulty breathing. The conditions of the young women, however, do not raise particular concerns.

The season starts tomorrow and the beaches will be monitored every day between 9am and 7pm. However, the question of tourists who every year, in this period, become protagonists of dangerous situations by facing the sea at unlikely times remains open. The president of the Lido seaside resort, Marco Daddio, spoke of “recklessness”, especially with regards to school groups on trips who evade the danger signs. This time too, the rescue machine worked. With the sea, however, it would always be good to have an extra eye.
