The first civic conference on Agrigento 2025 which saw the participation of over 250 participants, including cultural and tourism operators, institutions, trade and third sector associations, as well as individual citizens. During the works, four thematic tables were set up: community and governance of public spaces, moderated by Federica Salvo (director of FAI Kolymbetra Agrigento), creativity and cultural production, moderated by Florinda Saieva (Founder of Farm Cultural Park), hospitality and tourist reception, moderated by Viviana Buscemi (Co-founder of Essence of Sicily), historic center and suburbs, moderated by Valeria Scavone (Coordinator of the Degree Course in Architecture and Built Environment – Territorial University Center of Agrigento).
The participants, after an initial collective moment, which took place in the Consortium’s main hall, moved to the various classes making proposals, analyzing critical issues and highlighting opportunities still not fully exploited by the Agrigento area. The final moment saw the assembly meet again and each moderator reported on what was discussed during the work of the tables. President Minio is satisfied, highlighting not only “the cultural effervescence of Agrigento’s operators” and the talented human capital of the city but also the need to bet all together on the great opportunity that Agrigento is experiencing as a shared responsibility. From the discussions emerged a call for greater communication, both between the institutions and citizens but also between the operators themselves, as well as the need for coordination that can facilitate the organization of a single calendar of events in the province, also by resorting to a thematic portal.
Mayor Miccichè states: “The great participation demonstrates how the city wants to be there and be able to contribute actively.” The Councilor for Culture, Costantino Ciulla, closes the proceedings, underlining that “the thematic meetings will continue on a regular basis for a synergistic work of building the territorial development process carried out with the community.”
