Salerno, three parish priests from Cilento are also under investigation for the maxi facade bonus scam

The Public Prosecutor’s Office Vallo della Lucania has closed the preliminary investigation into the 12 million euro maxi scam linked to the facade bonus, which involves 33 people and 6 companies. The investigation, called Golden facadesstarted last October with checks by the Guardia di Finanza of Agropoli led by Captain Alessandro Brongo.

The deputy prosecutor Antonio Pizzi served the notice of conclusion of the preliminary investigations, the charges are of aggravated fraud, both attempted and consummated, aimed at obtaining public funds and the creation, transfer and compensation of tax credits for construction works never made between 2021 and 2022. Among the main suspects, the Cilento entrepreneur stands out I agree Malandrino, already known to the authorities for his involvement in similar millionaire scams and currently on the run. Two involved are believed to be frontmen or hidden associates of his. And among those under investigation there are also three parish priests responsible for churches and convents in Cilento, who allegedly declared false restoration works for a fictitious total expense of 5.7 million euros. The Fiamme Gialle of Agropoli have already carried out an emergency preventive seizure of current accounts, cars and properties worth 2.5 million euros, blocking the circulation and compensation of fake tax credits for over 10 million euros.

The investigation began with anomalies found at a recently established consultancy firmAnd. Despite having no personnel, means and logistical structures, after having changed its corporate purpose to “carrying out building works and construction of residential buildings”, the company began to generate tax credits for over 12 million and without carrying out any actual work, as verified by the authorities and municipal technicians.

According to the investigations, the documentation necessary to access the bonus, with the option of discount on the invoice and transfer of credit, was falsified with the help of compliant engineers and surveyors, as well as with the conscious participation of the recipients of the works, all of whom are currently under investigation. The suspects will now have 20 days to present defense briefs or be questioned by the public prosecutor, who will decide whether to request the indictment or dismissal of the charges. Meanwhile, the local community remains shocked by the scale of the scam which involved not only entrepreneurs and professionals, but also important religious figures.
