the Boomerang Rewind Festival program between music, sport and nostalgia

A ‘wonderful thought’ for three years. To go back like a boomerang, yes, but in time, to remember and celebrate two immortal decades. It is no coincidence that the event that will take place at Lido di Fano from 20 to 23 June is called ‘Boomerang Rewind Festival’, and it is already the third edition. There will be national and international guests, themed food imagined by local chefs and pastry chefs, and then music and entertainment throughout the seafront, even up to the Arzilla with some ‘forays’ to the port too.

Stories, objects, people. Anything to recall the 80s and 90s, which remained in the hearts of those who lived them. Fourteen fixed themed stations, two central stages, this year renamed ‘Stage1’ (Largo Seneca) and ‘Stage2’ (Piazzale Amendola, which for four days will become Largo Bellavista, thanks to the collaboration with the venue of the same name), where the key moments of the event will be experienced and where guests will arrive, including the godmother – Patty Pravo – who will have the task of cutting the ribbon on Friday 21 June at 7pm. Followed by karaoke with the Fano singer Luca Vagnini in Fiorello mode, then the performance of Sergio Casabianca and the Gocce. At 10.30pm Patty Pravo will be back – she has personally expressed her desire to be present – who will sing some of the songs that made her famous before giving way to the DJ set by Matteo Pietrelli, Ugo Palmisano and Radio Studio +.

Even if the inauguration will be on Friday 21st, the show will begin on Thursday 20th with ‘Waiting for Boomerang’ which this year will have a football theme. On Stage1, in fact, the Italia 82 world champion Ciccio Graziani will go up, who, after the interview by the journalist Gigi Brecciaroli, together with other former footballers will comment on the Euro2024 Italy-Spain match which will be broadcast on two giant screens, both on the main stages. Before the kick-off, it will be up to the Fano singer Asia, accompanied by the Capogiro girls’ choir, to sing the Mameli anthem. And to talk about football this year, the new mayor of Fano Luca Serfilippi will also be there. The Boomerang represented his first press conference, and it will also be the first event I will participate in with the tricolor sash. “This is now one of the city’s major events. As a regional administrator I have always worked to support him, because I believe in his potential and for me, commenting on the match together with a legend like Ciccio Graziani will be an honour, just as it is an honor to pay homage to the Onstage association which has been transforming the Lido for three years bringing many tourists to Fano. I believe that among the tasks of good administration there is also that of helping and supporting those who, thanks to many volunteers, manage to set up initiatives of this caliber, for which congratulations once again to all the staff, with the hope that this of mine baptism may bring luck to both of them, and that the Boomerang, and this is not a wish but a commitment, may have the attention it deserves like many other events which have so far been given much more visibility”.

Among the objectives of the Boomerang is also that of bringing back the symbolic objects of the 80s and 90s. And so, for four days, the DeLorean DMC-10, the legendary car from ‘Back to the Future’ which was already the protagonist of the official commercial, will be stationed at the Lido. The film will be screened on Saturday 22nd thanks to Cinefortunae which, in the Cineforum area near the Club Nautico Fanese, will create a nostalgia film club. On Friday 21st the screening – with a surprise guest not revealed for security reasons – of the film ‘Rambo’, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of its release in cinemas.

Another evening not to be missed will be that of Saturday 22nd, when there will be two special guests: directly from Zelig and Drive In will arrive Marco Della Noce, the legendary Oriano Ferrari who, after a period of difficulty of which he has never made a secret, has chosen Fano and the Boomerang square to return to performing in public. The comedian and actor Geoffrey Di Bartolomeo will be the one to anticipate it on Stage1, while the evening will be closed by Marco Ferradini, the Italian singer-songwriter famous throughout the world mainly thanks to the song ‘Teorema’, on stage together with Radio Hitalia and the Fano-based Asia. Music is therefore the protagonist, but not only with the guests already mentioned. In fact, cover bands such as Queen Mania (Queen Tribute), Zootv (U2 Tribute), Scarrafunky (Pino Daniele Tribute) and Made in Italì (’80 ’90 Tribute) will also perform. A dawn concert is also planned on Sunday at 6.

The tensile structure between Lido and Arzilla will be renamed ‘PalApice’. The always crowded games room that was set up in the auditorium in recent years will relocate here. Near the padel courts there will be the Vinil Market, a record market, but also comics and 80s objects. In front of the Da Charro pizza restaurant, however, there is the Baby Boomerang, an entire area dedicated to the little ones – with many retro board games – with a gigantic ‘Eco’ Game, a Goose Game with an ecological twist in collaboration with Aset and edited by Dire, Fare, Giocare. Fun will also be the protagonist on the beach with games for the little ones. To complete the rich program, which can be consulted on the Social pages of Boomerang Rewind Festival, there will be Street Food and Rist80, a restaurant with a ‘rewin’ menu curated by the La Perla restaurant, the exhibition of vintage cars and motorbikes and Art 80 , an art exhibition curated by Roberto Giammattei.

“We started almost for fun – commented Emanuela Giorgi, Nicola Anselmi and Nicola Ferri of the Onstage cultural association – and, on the eve of the third edition, we are proud of what we manage to propose every year. People are responding well and for months on social media, thanks to the work of our digital team led by influencer Fedi Fontana, a buzz has started that will accompany us until June 20th, when we will start with an edition ready to amaze. We truly thank all the operators of Lido and Arzilla who, in addition to trusting us, support us morally and economically, also helping us with the organization”.

And, speaking of merchants, there are three who, in honor of the BRF, have created an ad hoc food already available at their respective points of sale: Bon Bon offers the Boomerang ice cream cup with 80s flavors and their special Moretta, the Braccino pizzeria, the Boomerang pizza (with veal with tuna sauce, pendolini and rocket) and the Cavazzoni pastry shop with the cake that will be presented, cut and tasted on the opening day, but also special biscuits.
