Six arrests after the brawl at the Villa Comunale which took place this morning.
Six young people were arrested by Eagle Flying Squad following the fight that broke out this morning in the Villa Comunale area. They are three Tunisians and three Egyptians. The police, who intervened on the scene following reports from passers-by, seized two knives used during the fight. They were involved in the fight about ten people and some young people were injured, then transported to the emergency room of the San Salvatore hospital in L’Aquila for checks. Their conditions are not known at the moment. Just yesterday, in L’Aquila, a summit was held in the Prefecture to strengthen security measures after the latest episodes of violence.

Yet another violent episode occurred this morning as reported by the capital. A few days after the episodes of violence recorded at Castle Park, this time the new fight took place in the municipal Villa, in broad daylight. In fact, in the late morning, some young non-EU citizens came to blows, to the dismay of passers-by who were passing through the area at the time. Some of them were brandishing kitchen knives, which the other boys used to defend themselves from pieces of iron torn from the Villa’s waste bins. The timely intervention of two plainclothes officers from the State Police prevented the brawl from escalating further, whilst waiting for their colleagues from the Police Headquarters to investigate and take appropriate action. Only yesterday did the provincial Committee for Public Order and Security meet, in which greater visibility and greater presence of the Police Force was established. The table examined, in particular, some criminal episodes that have recently occurred in the Castle Park.
