Emilia-Romagna elections 2024, when to vote? This is a question that winds its way throughout the Region given that soon Stefano Bonaccini – from the top of the 390,000 preferences obtained in the European elections – will move to Brussels as the new European parliamentarian.
Once the election as MEP is official, Bonaccini will hand over his opinions resignation as president: from that moment on regional elections in Emilia-Romagna must be held within five months.
However, for some time now in the Region the parties have been working to identify the candidates president, with every decision likely to be taken in the summer with the first names already circulating.

Emilia-Romagna regional elections 2024: the date
At the moment there isn’t one yet date from the Emilia-Romagna regional elections 2024. As mentioned, everything will depend on when Stefano Bonaccini he will be proclaimed a member of the European Parliament, at which point he will also resign as president.
The Region has just corrected the rule which provided that, in case of early votingthe regional elections in Emilia-Romagna should be held between 15 April and 15 June.
Now, however, there will have to be elections called within three months from the resignation of the president, then there will be the canons two months of election campaign. In total, a maximum of five months could pass, with the polls likely to open in fall.
In 2020, however, the regional elections in Emilia-Romagna were held on 26 January, with the polls thus returning to open a few months earlier than the natural expiry of the current legislature.

As per practice for the regionals there will bedirect election of the president. No runoff: the candidate who manages to obtain even one more vote than his opponents will be elected.
To guarantee substantial governability in the Council, the list or lists that support the most voted candidate will be assigned a majority prizeequal to 27 seats out of a total of 50.
In general 40 councilors will be elected by one method proportional based on constituency lists, 9 instead with system majority in the individual constituencies while the remaining seat is reserved for the winning candidate.
It will be possible to carry out a split votefor a candidate for the office of President of the Regional Council and for one of the other lists not connected to it, while the barrier threshold it will be 3% for the non-coalited lists and 5% for the coalitioned ones.
Emilia-Romagna 2024: the candidates
The early regional elections in Emilia-Romagna were somehow taken for granted even before the 2024 European elections, given that an election of Stefano Bonaccini appeared to be a certainty. The parties thus got to work as the president’s candidacy for a seat in Brussels was made official.
At the moment there is none official candidate for the Emilia-Romagna 2024 elections, given that the various political forces have just returned from the efforts of the European and administrative elections.

An appeal to the primaries cannot also be ruled out, while as far as the coalition is concerned, an alliance between the Democratic Party and Green Left Alliancebut the related issues will then have to be resolved 5 Star Movement, Action And Italia Viva.
