Everything is ready, or almost, for the extension of metro line 5 from Bignami to Monza which will see Cinisello Balsamo affected by the presence of four stops. The city council approved the project and yet, as the opposition points out, the municipality is late because “after 5 years there is still no provision for uncoupling the line at Bignami which in the future will be able to connect the neighborhoods to the north of the city, the arrangement of the Ferri-Partigiani intersection and a serious development project for the Peano area which risks becoming a deadly traffic attractor”, states the PD in a note.

A delay that risks paralyzing the long-awaited arrival of the subway. “Such a large and important work cannot be blocked due to the shortcomings of an Administration that does not follow the projects and does not keep its promises, for this reason the Advisory Group of the Democratic Party has responsibly voted in favor of the act but, at the same time , we condemn the action of a Mayor who is increasingly interested in having visibility and less and less present in administrative activity”, explain the dem group leader Marco Tarantola and the councilor Mariarita Morabito.

Mayor Giacomo Ghilardi instead rejoices: “This is a work of strategic importance. The Lincoln stop, introduced in the project variant, will be a real “urban door” giving accessibility and making our territory accessible to local users as a supra-municipal one”.

The project, with an estimated cost of 1 billion and 265 million euros, involves the construction of four stops in the Cinisello Balsamo area, the first in front of the Parco Nord school complex, the second at Via Don Bosco in the Brollo district. Rondinella, the third in via Lincoln near the football field of the former Peano school and the last at the interchange with the M1 in Bettola. From there the line will continue, bypassing the A52 on the surface and then returning underground and heading with a total of seven other stations towards the Monza railway station, the San Gerardo hospital and, finally, the province of Monza and Brianza.

“The costs will be covered mostly by state funds. Our Municipality will have to take out a loan to contribute approximately 13 million euros because the Ghilardi Administration has failed to make the most of the huge works needed for the extension and which as a City we have already made available in the Bettola HUB, and this is a big political and strategic mistake that will weigh on the pockets of the Cinisellesi”, declares Mariarita Morabito.
