A festive afternoon to celebrate inclusion, urban regeneration and youth development with “Sport Civico”

Piazza degli Olmi was transformed into a lively and colorful stage for the “Sport Civico” project end party, which represented an exemplary model of active citizenship, integration and urban regeneration through sport.

. The event, promoted by the Italian Union of Sport for All (UISP) of Matera, saw the participation of a large and diverse local community, underlining the success and positive impact of the project.

The project, launched last October with the aim of promoting concrete actions of social sustainability and good practices of integration and inclusion in the Piazza degli Olmi district, has integrated sport as a fundamental tool in urban regeneration processes. This innovative model has demonstrated how sport can become a catalyst for social change, promoting cohesion and inclusion among people of all ages.

During the festive afternoon, participants had the opportunity to take part in a variety of activities and workshops that have characterized the project throughout the year. Among the activities proposed, the street soccer attracted many young enthusiasts, while yoga sessions offered moments of relaxation and well-being. The enthusiasm of the participants in the walking groups colored this festive afternoon in a memorable way, with significant stories of the journey made to date, highlighting the importance of projects that can bring people together on a social level.

For the little ones, aged 3 to 10, multisport represented an opportunity for fun and learning, encouraging the development of motor and social skills. Furthermore, the tchoukballan inclusive and innovative sport, involved a large number of participants, demonstrating how new activities can contribute to the diversification of the local recreational and sporting offer.

The end party of the “Sport Civico” project was not only a moment of celebration, but also an opportunity to reflect on the results obtained and to look to the future. The Piazza degli Olmi neighborhood has become a tangible example of how the integration of sport in urban development processes can transform spaces and communities, creating a more inclusive and participatory environment.

The president of the UISP Matera Committee, Claudia Coronella, underlined the importance of the project, declaring: “Sport Civico represented a proactive challenge that we managed to win thanks to the active participation of the Matera community. The “Sport Civico” model demonstrates that it sport can be a powerful tool for urban regeneration for the construction of an active and aware citizenship.”

The closure of the project marks a starting point for future initiatives that will continue to promote the values ​​of inclusion, participation and sustainable development at a social level. UISP Matera is committed to continuing on this path, working alongside the institutions and the community to build a future in which sport is a central element of collective well-being.

The “Sport Civico” project end party left an indelible mark in the memory of all participants, consolidating the link between sport, community and urban development and highlighted how city spaces can be transformed into places of intergenerational interaction.
