Bad weather in Lombardy, felled trees and hail in Ostiglia

While the storms advance from Piedmont towards Pavese and Milanese, one supercell hit the Lombardy near the border with Veneto. In particular, a probable and intense one downburst (i.e. linear wind gusts produced by a thunderstorm) affected Hostile, in the Mantua area, felling some trees and even overturning a truck. In the Mantua area, wind gusts exceeded 50km/h: we report 57km/h in Castel d’Ario e 47km/h in Rivalta sul Mincio. Ostiglia was also hit by hail small in size but plentiful while heavy rain resulted flooding widespread.

Meanwhile, the storms underway in Pavese caused storms: 41mm of rain fell in Robbio, 38mm in Cassolnovo. The province of also hit hard Praises. There have been dozens of requests for help received by the Fire Brigade due to flooding and dangers deriving from fallen or unsafe trees.
