The Sea Cloud II, the cruise ship that sails throughout the Mediterranean at this time of year, docks in Naples.
The cruise ship “Sea Cloud II” has docked at the Angioino Pier of the Port of Naples, and immediately attracted the attention of many: the three masts of the ship immediately attracted the gaze of citizens, passers-by and tourists, accustomed to large cruise ships without “historic” sails. The sailing ship, recently built (at the turn of the New Millennium), is not uncommon: it mainly sails between the Mediterranean Sea in the warmer months and the Caribbean Sea in the winter months, sailing from one side of the Atlantic to the other, and from a few days it travels between the Gulf of Naples and the islands coming from the southern part of the Mediterranean with tourists and crew on board.
105.9 meters long and 16 meters wide, with 5 decks, has a capacity of 96 passengers and has 63 crew members on board. In short, it does not go unnoticed, even if it is obviously smaller in size than the large cruise ships that appear in the Gulf of Naples every day. It reminded some of the Cuauhtémoc, the jewel of the Mexican Navy which last year in July docked right in the port of Naples, also allowing guided tours on board for two days. These are obviously different ships (the Sea Cloud II is larger in size than the same Cuauhtémoc ship), but they always attract curious people to the Angevin pier to observe them up close. In the case of today’s ship, which flies the Maltese flag, the curiosity lasted only one afternoon: in the evening she resumed sailing south, in all probability towards some Sicilian port where she could dock tomorrow.
