Pavia, 12 June 2024 – The extensive depression circulation which is affecting Lombardy in these hours, is causing a lot of damage in particular in two territories, Lodi and Pavia, which are the most affected provinces. There are dozens requests for help reached the firefighters due to flooding and dangers deriving from fallen or unsafe trees. There are currently around fifty requests for intervention in the province of Pavia. The fire brigade teams were therefore deployed in the area with vehicles and equipment to deal with the ongoing emergency.
The violent storm also hit the Lodi area around 6pm. The fire brigade switchboard then started ringing intermittently for requests for help. There are about ten interventions carried out for unsafe trees and water infiltrations. The rescue operations began in Via Giacomo Matteotti in Lodi Vecchio due to unsafe trees and continued at the same time in Sant’Angelo Lodigiano, in Piazza Vittorio Veneto, due to infiltrations into the home. Damage to the house due to water also in Lodi in via Sant’Angelo. However, the unsafe trees were also reported in Lodi in via Della Marescalca and in Codogno in viale Buonarotti. Then there was a dangerous pole in Casaletto Lodigiano in via Livelli. The firefighters of the provincial command remained busy but also the volunteers of the detachments of Casalpusterlengo and Sant’Angelo Lodigiano.
The forecasts, on the other hand, were clear: today, Wednesday 12 June, would be the worst day in terms of instability. But the situation should improve on the plains from tomorrow.
