Lombardy. Beduschi: 1 million euros to mountain communities to support businesses

The Lombardy Region finances the mountain communities with 1 million euros. This is provided for by a resolution approved by the Council on the proposal of the Councilor for Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, Alessandro Beduschi.

“This financing – declares councilor Beduschi – will allow individual mountain communities to activate tenders to support the mountain agricultural sector, financing projects such as the arrangement and renovation of buildings, the purchase of new machinery and equipment and the introduction of new crops of value or for interventions to improve water collection systems”.

The initiative adds to the recent 17 million euro tender for mountain farms, foreseen as part of the 2023-2027 CAP through the SRB01 measure for municipalities in disadvantaged areas in the provinces of Bergamo, Brescia, Como, Lecco , Pavia, Sondrio and Varese.

“Supporting mountain agriculture – continues Beduschi – means not only providing liquidity to companies, but also recognizing their crucial role in protecting the territory, the environment and in the balance of local communities. Lombardy enhances the excellent productions linked to the mountain area, which have significant economic implications and which must be increasingly capable of building synergies with agritourism and wine tourism activities”.

“The intervention is part of the strategy for the Lombardy mountains – comments the regional councilor for Mountains and Local Authorities, Massimo Sertori -, which aims to valorise these extraordinary territories”. “This strategy – he continues – has as its main objective the fight against depopulation, which is achieved by creating economic and well-being conditions linked to work”.

“Therefore, aid to a strategic sector such as agriculture – concludes councilor Sertori – is of fundamental importance both from an economic and social point of view and for the maintenance of the incredible landscapes that characterize our mountains”.

“This investment – concludes councilor Beduschi – aims to represent a further contribution to guarantee those who farm in difficult territories to continue to produce quality, also recognizing their crucial role in safeguarding the environment, preserving the territory and balancing of local communities and in the valorisation of traditions”.
