Mina Safine murder, life sentence confirmed for husband Abderrahim Senbel

The wife did not commit suicide. She died because her husband set her on fire. For the judges who evaluated the evidence against Abderrahim Senbel there are no doubts. The Court of Cassation also confirmed the life sentence for the man, who had seen the maximum sentence inflicted by the Court of Assizes of first degree two years ago, then confirmed by the Court of Assizes of Appeal on 5 May 2023 .

The judges of the Supreme Court ruled against him, rejecting his lawyers’ appeal. Thus Abderrahim Senbel was definitively condemned for the murder of Mina Safinethe 45-year-old who died in September 2020 in Genoa hospital following extensive burns all over her body.

Moreover, already two years ago, the president of the Court of Assizes Roberto Spanò in the reasons for the life sentence of Abderrahim Senbel, considered responsible for the murder of his wife Mina Safine, the 45-year-old who died on 27 September 2020 following the burns reported on 90% of the body a week earlier, on the sixth floor of one of the condominiums in via Tiboni, ad Urago Mellahad highlighted that «we are in the presence of a reliable historical reconstruction, based on the coherent interweaving between what was declared by the offended person himself in the immediate aftermath of the fact and the cognitive contribution made at the hearing by the witnesses, to which must be added the solid support provided from the medico-legal advice and the self-harming statements provided by the accused to say the least”.
