Crime in Varese, the League presses Galimberti and presents a question: “Invisible Municipality”

The regional councilor Emanuele Monti and the municipal councilor Stefano Angei denounce the problems that concern both the center and the Bobbiate district, including thefts, drug dealing and prostitution

VARESE – “There is a clear safety problem in Varese and we ask the Administration to intervene”. As the regional councilor Emanuele Monti and the municipal councilor Stefano Angei, both from the League, summarize the text of the Council Question addressed to the First Citizen of the Democratic Party, underlining the serious security problem created both in the center and in the Bobbiate district. “For too long, as the League, we have been denouncing in the City Council the alarming situation of which our fellow citizens are victims”, declare Monti and Angei, “but no answers are coming from the Municipality. Violent phenomena and threats to the safety of our homes have increased exponentially; the exasperated residents of the Bobbiate neighborhood have been reporting thefts and attempted home invasions for some time and for this reason they have gathered in a neighborhood watch committee, organizing an evening to talk about it to the local administrators, but no one has been seen from the Municipality ”.

“Not only that,” they continue the two exponents of the League; “a few days ago the Piazza Repubblica and Varese Centro Committee addressed a letter to the mayor denouncing the presence of these criminal phenomena, as well as the drug dealing in Piazza Repubblica, asking for an intervention which did not take place; last June 9th, a video was released on social media showing a fight in the city centre, in Viale Milano, an area which, given its proximity to the stations, has become increasingly poorly frequented and degraded. To all this we add the arrest of a forty-year-old, accused of attempted murder, for the violent events that occurred in the houses owned by the municipality of Varese in via Mera, an episode which has brought to light extremely worrying situations which are taking place, according to some residents such as drug dealing and prostitution on a daily basis. At this point we ask ourselves what the Municipal Administration, which should guarantee the safety of citizens, is waiting for to intervene”.

“For this reason,” they conclude Mountains and Angei, “we ask the mayor and the competent councilors a question to explain, in the council chamber, whether they are aware of these serious situations and what they intend to do and, finally, whether these facts have been brought to the provincial safety table by asking the relevant bodies interventions to protect public safety. It is intolerable that the safety of our fellow citizens is not guaranteed.”
