«Signatures to move Valentino Rossi’s Cascone»

PESARO – First he launched an appeal, now he has started the petition: “Sign now to move the Cascone and improve Piazzale D’Annunzio”. Thus the link to the initiative promoted by architect Ferdinando Leoni, who after having meditated, decided to move from words to deeds. And with good reason. The professional is in fact the designer of Piazzale D’Annunzio, the redeveloped open space in the Levante sea area inaugurated just a year ago and which already housed the Cascone dedicated to Valentino Rossi.

The architect Leoni launched his petition through the dedicated platform “Change.Org” on a day that was not just any day, that is, after the polls were closed with the new mayor of Pesaro, Andrea Biancani, having left the response. And it is the first request that will be submitted to the new mayor who has already declared that he has placed the improvement of the seafront with future planning among his priorities. In the meantime, the designer invites you to join the petition. «It’s all about getting the hang of it, opening the link and knowing how to sign. We need a bit of good will” comments Leoni who says he is confident in finding feedback and support. By opening the link you can see that for now 118 signatures have been collected but with the aim of reaching at least 200 (the first step of the platform). But the collection of signatures has just started and it is assumed that membership will grow. The designer has been calling for a move of the installation dedicated to Valentino Rossi for some time and, above all, in the summer of its inauguration it caused thousands of people from Pesaro, tourists, fans and motorcycling enthusiasts to take thousands of selfies. «The Cascone – explains architect Leoni – I’m not saying it’s wrong in substance but it doesn’t look good where it was placed. It would have more visibility if it were moved from Piazzale D’Annunzio to the area of the Benelli business center where the museum dedicated to Tonino Benelli and Benelli is located. In its place I would instead like to propose to the new council the placement of a sculpture by an artist linked to the territory, certainly more suited to the aesthetics of the square and the seaside area, enhancing the cultural roots of our community, giving continuity to the Sculpture Park project . The other thing that matters to me is to significantly improve the impact of the greenery, which is currently not sufficient. We ask for more planting in the flowerbeds around the square with greater synergy between the Municipality and Aspes for the assignment of tasks to agronomists and experts. And that horrible sheet that covers the ground of the flowerbeds must be eliminated immediately.” Among the first signatories of the petition are Viviana Bucci, Count Nani Marcucci Pinoli, Roberto Malini and others.
