The Piedmont hazelnut at the center of the new supply chain framework agreement, which will be signed on Friday 14 June in Turin, between Coldiretti Piemonte and the Novi Elah Dufour confectionery group.
The President of Coldiretti Piemonte Cristina Brizzolari, the member of the Coldiretti Piemonte council with territorial delegation to the corilicolo sector Mauro Bianco and the President of the Elah Dufour Novi Group Guido Repetto will participate in the event, all in the presence of the provincial federations of Coldiretti, including which, that of Asti.
“The Piedmont hazelnut sector has 2000 companies with approximately 27 thousand hectares of cultivated area, for a total production of approximately 200 thousand quintals and almost 80 million euros in turnover” recalls the President of Coldiretti Asti Monica Monticone. “An important sector which, in our province, includes almost 1200 companies for a total of over 11,082 hectares of cultivated area. Of these companies, many were already involved in the recently concluded Supply Chain Contract and others will potentially be so.”
“In addition to representing a guarantee for producers, the new supply chain agreement also provides for improvements to the advantage of hazelnut companies, starting from the duration which goes from 3 to 5 years” anticipates the Director of Coldiretti Asti Giovanni Rosso. “As regards payments, then, an increase in the percentage of the advance on the first price is expected. Furthermore, the recognition of the price in progressive stages on the yield and the rewards on quality have been confirmed. Many results obtained thanks to the solicitations of Coldiretti. The meeting” concludes Rosso, “will also be an opportunity to illustrate the economic analysis of the new supply chain project”.
