Capital municipalities: 16 mayors already elected, one in Piedmont. And now the ballots

During the consultations on 8 and 9 June, 62.67 of those entitled to vote went to the polls for the municipal elections. There is a drop of 5 points compared to the 67.62 percent of the previous administrative consultations that took place in 2019 but the figure is still higher than the percentage of voters in the European elections, which remained at 49.66 percent.

From the data released by the Eligendo portal of the Ministry of the Interior, the capital municipality with the highest turnout was Urbino (70.98 percent), followed by Lecce (69.82) and Perugia (66.98). Further down in the ranking are the Piedmontese cities of Vercelli (61.92), Verbania (56.98) and Biella (59.86).

Among the Italian mayors elected in the first round is that of Biella, Marzio Olivero (centre-right), who received 53.81% of the votes. The center-left candidate Marta Bruschi instead totaled 34.07% of the votes.

The municipalities of Verbania and Vercelli will go to the ballot. In Verbania there is a run-off between Riccardo Brezza (centre-left) with 37.27% and Giandomenico Albertella (civic lists) with 30.02%. In Vercelli, the centre-right candidate Roberto Scheda received 37.87% of the votes, while the centre-left candidate Gabriele Bagnasco received 25.60%.
