Some stories take immense turns and then end… badly. It is not always possible to put the pieces of a relationship back together and this is what is happening between Napoli and Giovanni Di Lorenzo, captain of the 2023 scudetto which now seems to have been definitively canceled since the last disastrous season. A year ago in the summer the renewal until 2028 which was supposed to tie him forever to the Neapolitans. Then the difficulties on the pitch and in the environment, the dressing room that fell apart and in the winter months De Laurentiis’ desire to make a clean sweep to open a new cycle.
It was that moment that Di Lorenzo and his agent, Fabio Giuffrida, began to look around, finding support in Giuntoli and Juventus. The arrival of Antonio Conte does not seem to be able to change the situation, even if the coach vows to start again with the captain considering him untransferable. It will be possible? ADL can always persist, having the strength of the long-term contract on its side, but it is not certain that there is a possibility of mending things now that Di Lorenzo has come out into the open.
Even the desired destination (Juventus) seems designed to make Napoli nervous. Yet in the contacts between Conte, the sporting director Manna (who in recent weeks had embraced the De Laurentiis line) and the agent the positions remained the starting ones. He’s heading for a divorce, as far as we’ll see. Unless Federico Chiesa ends up on the plate who Conte likes to death and who would reverse the psychological burden of the rift from the Neapolitans to the Juventus.
