Maira Cacucci running for mayor? “Legnano is in my heart, never say never…”

“We are working to give the city a genuine Legnanese mayoral candidate”.
Here’s what’s really needed

Legnano – “Legnano is in my heart, it has been since I was born and it always will be, what can I say: in life you can never say never…” Words from the Regional Councilor Maira Cacuccwhich opens up the possibility of having her as a candidate for mayor in the next municipal elections of Legnano. The success of Fratelli d’Italia in the latest European elections it reinforces the rumors that have been circulating for some time.

Lawyer, member of the national assembly of brothers of Italy since its formation, councilor in 2004 in Rescaldina, then in Legnano and Rozzano, Maira Cacucci is currently a regional councilor in Lombardy.

What do you think of the current Legnano administration?

As a former municipal administrator I often do not understand his choices, if not because they are dictated by ideology, but not truly based on the real and concrete needs of citizens. On several occasions we have noticed an underestimation of the safety needs of the people of Legnano and equally those of the economic operators in the area. An example above all is the situation of the city market and of street commerce, a topic that I particularly care about, which seems destined for a slow and incontrovertible decline. There has been talk of redevelopment of the market since the establishment of the Council, yet despite the push of the Brothers of Italy in the Council, things proceed slowly and in a very ineffective way. Beyond the acceptable choices to redevelop public buildings, including schools, thanks to the help of Pnrr funds, there does not seem to be a far-sighted vision of the city of the future, of the development that we want to give to our territory”.

What questions do you feel like asking the Administration?

Does Legnano need the structure in Via Pontida used as a Water or Children’s Museum, whatever you want to call it? We talk about citizen participation but it really took place with the traders of Piazza del Popolo, Via XXIX Maggio and for the cycle paths or with the relevant committees and/or with simple groups of citizens who protested and are protesting against choices made by this arrived? Was there involvement or participation of citizens and operators for the PGT? Did publishing the documents on August 2nd, in the middle of the summer period, perhaps encourage participation?”.

An administration in office since 2019, whose mandate could however be extended to 2026 due to the stops imposed by the pandemic in the worst two-year period. Perhaps you, as a regional councillor, know something more?

So it’s rumored… we’ll see, although I sincerely hope that the elections will be held in 2025, for the good of the citizens obviously.”

On which issues concerning our territory have you worked or are you working in the region?

I am currently focusing on issues relating to the training of the Local Police. During my department in Legnano I realized how much the Local Police needs to be institutionally trained. Now the Local Police deals with petty crime and territorial control, which is why it is necessary for them to be able to stop and arrest a person without getting hurt and without hurting anyone.”
