Fashion is the protagonist of exhibitions, book presentations, workshops, round tables and fashion shows. The first edition of Sicily Fashion Week kicks off today in Palermo. It begins at 3.30 pm at the Art Gallery Space of Confartigianato Imprese Palermo, in via Mariano Stabile 224, with the presentation of the book “deModasign needle & thread of sewing of weaving” by Patitucci and continues, starting from 5 pm, with the “Contemporary Santa Rosalia, vision and contamination of the modern woman” which will feature the students of the Academy of Fine Arts of Palermo and the students of Endofap Don Orione.
The children will present the artefacts created for fashion and goldsmiths and the winners will then be awarded prizes on 16 June, before the final fashion show which will be held at Villa Tasca, also in the presence of local institutions, led by the mayor of Palermo, Roberto Lagalla. The final evening will be presented by Eliana Chiavetta who took care of the artistic direction together with Luca Lo Bosco.
The initiative, also included in the calendar of events for the four hundredth anniversary of Santa Rosalia, organized by Confartigianato Imprese Sicilia, sees around twenty Sicilian houte couture companies as protagonists. Dedicated to fashion craftsmanship and the development of the entire accessories and jewelery industry, in the presence of buyers including foreign ones, arriving from Spain, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Austria and Uzbekistan, this year the Sicily fashion week will also involve the province Palermo.
In the evocative location of the Guglielmo II complex in Monreale, from 13 and 14 June, B2B events for companies and buyers will be hosted thanks to the mayor Alberto Arcidiacono. While, thanks to the mayor of Piana degli Albanesi, Rosario Petta, on Sunday 16 June at Villa Tasca, some precious historical arbëreshe dresses will be exhibited. There will be no shortage of parties in splendid locations such as the Tonnara Bordonaro.
