A’anti-mafia operation coordinated by the Etna DDA is underway in Vittoria since dawn today. On the field, i Carabinieri of the investigative unit of the provincial command of Ragusa e Financiers of the Gico of the economic and financial police unit of Catania which they carried out, against 16 people, a precautionary custody order in prison issued by the investigating judge of the Etna capital at the request of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate.
The suspects are accused, for various reasons, of the crimes of mafia association, external competition in mafia association, attempted murder, and illicit competition with threat or violence. The operation was called Phoenix.
In particular, the Carabinieri of the Ragusa provincial command arrested 12 people while the Catania Financial Police carried out the precautionary custody order in prison against four other suspects. The investigating judge’s provision was issued at the request of the deputy prosecutor Sebastiano Ardita and the deputy Gabriele Fragalà of the Etna DDA and is based on investigations, from 2016 to 2023, of soldiers from the Investigative Unit of Ragusa and the PEF unit of the Fiamme Gialle of Catania.
