“I’m ashamed of being italian”

He was sentenced to 10 years in prison Dario Lencithe 35-year-old man who caused a terrifying accident the night between 29 and 30 September 2023 in the Fuorigrotta district of Naples, where two boyfriends aged 20 and 23 lost their lives, Lucia Morra And Francesco Altamura. The couple was hit while traveling on a scooter.

The sentence was issued by the preliminary hearing judge of Naples Lo Gozzo. The accused caused the tragedy while he was driving a powerful Audi under the influence of cocaine and alcohol. At the end of his indictment, the Naples Prosecutor’s Office had asked for the maximum sentence: 12 years of imprisonment. The 35-year-old initially ended up in prison and then under house arrest, from which he however walked away, forcing the judge to increase the precautionary measure.

Today 11 June, before the start of the hearing, the relatives and friends of the two victims displayed a banner outside the courthouse in Naples with photos of Lucia and Francesco and the writing: “Justice for Lucia and Kekko: we want pain seeking and exemplary”. But unfortunately the sentence did not convince them. “I’m not satisfied, the judge should have given his best, I’m ashamed of being italian: only 5 years for each boy killed. I believe we were not protected. For me this is a scandalous sentence, they deserved at least 12 years. We didn’t get any discount and it wasn’t even right that the abbreviated procedure was granted to someone who was the protagonist of a real murder”
