“Talking about the race seems excessive to me”

06/26/2024 – The fourth round of the Italian Pro Prestige took place once again in Tuscany, on the Ponte a Egola track. A very different two days in terms of weather, sun on Saturday and lots of rain on Sunday.

Our Matteo Giarrizzo started the weekend with a good ninth place in the timed trials of his MX2 group on Saturday. On Sunday the race track completely changed. The heavy rain that fell made the track almost unusable. In this context, Matteo tried to do his best to stay afloat. There is not much to tell, forced in both fractions to fight in the middle of the group, he was unable to finish the two races, but he brought home placings that keep him afloat in his championship.

With an 18th and a 30th he managed to take twentieth place in his category in the overall of the day. After four tests, Matteo occupies eleventh position in the overall Fast MX2 ranking. Next appointment for the team next weekend with the fifth round of the Marche FMI Regional in Ponzano di Fermo.

Matteo Giarrizzo: “A very difficult race for me due to mid-pack starts. I got covered in mud in both races and driving was very difficult. In race one I managed to do the laps needed to get points, in the second heat I didn’t make it. Definitely a weekend to forget quickly. Now on to the next race. As usual, I thank the whole team and the people who support me”.

Luca Pedica: “Even though my voice doesn’t have much prominence, I wanted to say that talking about the race seems excessive to me. I am part of that group of people who thought that the conditions for running were not there, especially when it came to medical aid. I saw almost all the drivers agree not to race but then one of the professionals unfortunately lined up at the gate and at that point the race was started. If even a champion like Cairoli clearly said that there were no conditions to race, there was a reason. Having said that, we did everything we could to get to the bottom of it. Unfortunately it didn’t go very well but this too was an important experience for all the guys on the team in extreme conditions. Now let’s think about the next race which is already next weekend. Thanks to the guys on the team and to all the people who help us.”
