If Franco Matacena, despite the 13 thousand preferences, equal to 49%, barely made it to the run-off (one hundred votes) and will challenge Antonio Farinaro in the second round, the civic coalition firstly exceeded the 50 percent threshold, ensuring as of now at least 12 city councilors out of 24. The definitive shape of the new assembly will depend on who wins the ballot. If Matacena prevails, the majority bonus of 60% will be triggered and the majority will go from 12 to 15 councilors, in addition to the mayor. In the event of victory for Farinaro, who obtained 26% in the first round, the so-called “lame duck” scenario will emerge. In the civic assembly he will not have the numbers to govern, unless an agreement is reached with all or some of the councilors elected in the other coalitions.
